Organizing committee

Excursion

Two days of guided excursions will interleave five days of lectures. The expense is included in the registration fee. We may visit the following sites:

Posters

Students are encouraged to present their own research in the form of posters. There will be a “Best poster award” announced at the end of the school. Posters will be hang around the lecture room and/or the dinner place to give us chances to discuss about them.

Visa

Participants should apply for L visa (tourist visa) via their local Chinese embassy or consulate by providing their ordinary passport, visa application form, and other required documents. General information can be found on the Chinese embassy website. For US citizen, please follow instructions on this page.

Updates on Apr. 30, 2018: we cannot issue invitation letters anymore. People who registered late have to apply their visa without the letter. This is possible. Please read the links provided above carefully and find out how to do that.

Outdated:

If your institute representative is not assisting you with your visa application process, please fill this form and send it to the organizer together with a photo copy of the name page of your passport so that we can draft the invitation letter for you accordingly. If you have been taken care of, there is no need to submit the materials twice. Please note that these materials have to be submitted before March 31. Otherwise, you may not get an invitation letter in time. In that case, you can use your hotel and flight booking information instead of the invitation letter in your visa application. But in general, you are advised to avoid any last-minute action if possible.

Some instructions on filling the form:

Food

Breakfast will be provided by hotel. We highly encourage you to book lunch box and dinner provided by the local organizing committee to have safe, convenient and delicious food. Tickets can be purchased on site one day before the school. Please indicate your food preference in our registration form so that we can prepare accordingly. We can provide information for your own food adventures on excursion days. It would be wise to have some local students in your adventure team.

Lodging

KeHua Hotel

We will be staying in the KeHuaYuan Hotel right on SCU campus from July 11 to 18. Its address is

No. 141,
Ke-Hua North Road,
Wuhou District,
Chengdu, China

There is no need to make your own reservation as long as you register online. Students are highly encouraged to share rooms. Foreign students will be mixed with Chinese students to increase culture exchange opportunities.

Lecturers will stay in the same hotel to maximize the chance for students to discuss with them.

Transportation

Some local students may meet you in Chengdu airport if you need help to find your way to the hotel. If that is the case, please email the organizer your flight information as soon as you have it.

Financial assistance

PIRE GEMADARC provides some limited amount of awards for students and lecturers who perform well in the school. The awards will be announced at the end of the school. The school does not have budget to cover individual travel costs. Participants are responsible to finance their own travels.

Culture and activities

In addition to two days of excursions, we offer you

Registration

The registration is closed. The registration fee is $160 US dollars for students outside of China, and 1,000 RMB for Chinese students. It is used to cover the following cost:

Please refer to this page for the payment of the registration fee. If you cannot stay for the whole school, you can pay for a daily fee on the spot.

Please note that the registration process and fee are NOT waived for lecturers. They need to fill the form and pay the registration fee as well. However, lecturers from outside the PIRE-GEMADARC collaboration may receive lecturing fees as compensation.
